Basic Command Line(DOS) Commands

Most of inexperienced person in computer or non-it person does not know about command line.In windows you can use DOS commands with CMD command line Interface.You can do all the things using command line that you are doing with mouse.so in this post I am going to explain basic does commands that are helpful to everyone and helps in exploring your PC in innovative way.

Start cmd with CLTR+Run and type cmd.  

• HELP command : Type help and you will see all the list of command available to you in cmd.
• Clear : To clear console screen
• Pwd : To print current directory
• touch : To make files
• Cd : To move around folders and files
• Cd.. : To move out from directory or folder.
• rmdir : To remove directory
• mkdir : To make new directory
• ls : To show folders and files in current directory.

This are most basic commands.But here are some command that you want to remember.......

Assoc :

Not sure what default program you have set up to handle ZIP, MP3 or HTML files? A quick and easy way to check for your default file associations is the “assoc” command.

Tree :

Sometimes it would be nice to have a diagram showing directories and sub-directories. Using the Tree command, you can do just that.

First, navigate to the directory you want to get the file structure of, and then type “tree > anyfile.txt“. The text file can be called anything you like.

Network Commands :

If you want to know your basic network setup, just do a quick “ipconfig” and you will get details like your computer IP and the default gateway (which is typically your home router IP address)

If you’re not sure you have a good network connection, try doing a “ping” to a known IP address or a website. You’ll see it echo back with an IP address if the link is good. If you want to see all network connections currently active from your PC, type “netstat“.

Windows Utility :

To view a list of active processes, just open up a command prompt and type “tasklist“.

Protecting Folders By Hiding behind The Image

You don't want others to read or open your important documents or Files.But sometimes Kids or other people try to open it intentionally.So there are many methods to keep them safe  from others to see.

First one is that you make whole folder hidden.Learn Here.

But there is a way to see this hidden folder by going into Organize>view Properties>Show all Hidden Folders.

So one solution to that is you can use a Software Like Protected Folder Or Folder Lock etc.....

But if someone knows your password than this way is also insecure.Another genius way is to use Image to hide your File.So in this post I am going to explain how to Hide your File behind The Image.


To hide a file behind a image  means that if any one opens that image he will see the image, but to see the hidden file we need to open that image in a specific way. So lets get started.

In order to do so First you have basic knowledge of command line Read It here.

Hide File Behind Image :

1. Choose Image behind that you want to Hide your File.
2. Choose File and make .RAR format of it by using WINRAR. You can get Winrar Here.
3. Copy both Files to Desktop or In following command in CMD go to Image and File directory and than run command.(Note :Both files must be in same directory)
4. Open command Prompt.By CLTR+RUN and type cmd.
5. In cmd type following command.........

Copy /b yourimagename.jpg + yourfilename.rar yourfinalimage.jpg

6. Now replace yourimagename.jpg with name of Image file you want to hide behind that Imagefile.

7. Same as above replace yourfilename with file you want to hide from others.

8. And at last replace yourfinalimage.jpg with the name you want to hide file.This will be the Image behind which your file is hidden.

Now if you open newly created Image it will open image only.

To access Hidden File Follow this Steps:

1. Open Winrar and Drag Image file into winrar.

2. Now Extract your filename.rar file.
